New 2020 Summer Camp Programs

The following camps have space:

Backyard Exploration Backpacks (ages 4-10)

Take this kit into your backyard or local park for some nature exploration fun! Backpack includes 2 magnifying glasses, 2 bug boxes, 2 lesson plans, craft instructions, 1 recipe, and a surprise! Pick up at Woodend in early July. $45. Available to order online soon!

1st/2nd

Audubon Adventures (week of 7/27), 2 sessions FULL
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. OR 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Members $450/nonmembers $535
Come explore our 40-acre nature sanctuary with us! We’ll catch frogs in the pond, roll logs in the woods, and race through the meadow! All state health and safety protocols will be followed with a 4:1 camper teacher ratio. Campers must be MD residents.

3rd/4th

Audubon Adventures (weeks of 7/20 and 7/27), 2 sessions FULL
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. OR 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Members $450/nonmembers $535

Nature Filmography at Home (week of 7/6)
Members $225/nonmembers $275
Capture the beauty of Nature through film. Campers will learn how to shoot and edit their own short nature film. Classes will be held via Zoom from 10-11 am and 3-4 pm with an additional 1-2 hours of self-led outdoor prompts and activities per day.

Nature Photography at Home (week of 7/13)
Members $195/nonmembers $245
Learn how to capture the beauty of nature through photography. Classes will be held via Zoom from 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. with an additional 1-2 hours of self-led outdoor prompts and activities per day.

9th/10th/11th/12th

Audubon Advocates (week of 7/13)
Members $175/nonmembers $225
Up to 10 SSL hours available
Turn your passion into action with this virtual camp taught by our ANS Advocacy team. Learn about ANS’s current work in MD, DC, and VA and learn how to think globally but act locally on topics ranging from climate change to the Beltway expansion. Classes will be held via Zoom from 10-11:30 a.m. with an additional 1-2 hours of self-led research and writing opportunities per day. Scholarships are available.

CAMP AUDUBON

Woodend Sanctuary is a 40-acre oasis just outside Washington, DC in the middle of Chevy Chase, MD. Bordering Rock Creek Park, the sanctuary contains mature woods and meadows, a pond, and an intermittent stream that provide habitat for many birds, insects, deer, rabbits, and foxes. Open lawns provide activity space, and well-maintained nature trails permit safe nature exploration.
