NOTE: This event has been cancelled. We have two other upcoming gas leak detection walks: please visit www.anshome.org/training to register and join us.

Have you ever smelled that stinky, rotten-egg scent while walking around DC? That was probably one of the thousands of gas leaks occurring at any given time in the city. Leaks pose a major public health threat to air quality and the climate. Luckily, there are things we can do to find these leaks and move away from fossil fuels altogether.

Join us for this gas leak detection field training, where we’ll show you how to operate a gas leak detector to take stock of the leaks happening in your neighborhood. We’ll walk around the Mt. Pleasant and Columbia Heights neighborhoods, record all the leaks we find, and add them to our database.

This hands-on, empowering field event gives you the chance to be a community scientist and help keep you and your neighbors safe from gas. We’ll provide all the tools you need afterwards to take action on a larger scale.

This event is a follow-up to the June 22nd training, “Un-Natural Gas: Methane’s Threat to Climate and Health.” You do not have to have attended the training in order to come to this event.
